Sector’s structure of organization
On 1st January 2007 there were 32 mines functioning in hard coal mining.
Sector’s structure of organization is as follows:
a) Enterprises running hard coal output:
- Kompania Węglowa SA – 17 mines (4 mining centres made),
- Katowicka Grupa Kapitałowa, including Katowicki Holding Węglowy S.A., having 5 mines, and 1 mine ltd. whose owner is KHW S.A.,
- Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa SA – 6 mines,
- Południowy Koncern Węglowy SA – 1 double mine (mine, that pull together of two individual mienworks), where 50,45% of shares belong to Kompania Węglowa S.A. (33,73% votes on WZ) and 49,55% Południowy Koncern Energetyczny SA (66,27 % votes onWZ)
- Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka SA,
- Siltech sp. z o.o. (100% of shares belong to a private owner).
b) Created in 2000 companies that went through restructuring. They performed physical liquidation of mines after they stopped coal output, and manage non-productive assets of those mines.
- Spółka Restrukturyzacji Kopalń SA,
- Bytomska Spółka Restrukturyzacji Kopalń sp. z o.o., where 100 % of shares belong to SRK S.A.
c) Commercial companies:
- Węglokoks S.A.
The only owner of the above listed companies is State Treasury, with the exeption of LW Bogdanka SA where State Treasury has 90 % of shares and PKW SA and Siltech Ltd.
The competence of a minister responsible for State Treasury resulting from the actions owned, with the exeption of LW Bogdanka SA and PKW SA, are performed by minister of industry.
