Bochnia - Salt wonders

Probably everybody has heard about the monumental „Wieliczka” salt mine for sightseeing of which the participants of the XXI World Mining Congress have been invited. „Bochnia” salt mine is less famous than the previously mentioned one but is surely an attractive mine for tourists.

„Bochnia” salt mine - a health resort -attracts the tourists with an interesting route for sightseeing and the specific microclimate of an exceptional bacteriological cleanness. The only accommodation under the ground in Poland is organized in this mine. Two chambers have been adapted for this purpose.

The accommodation in saline chambers 250 meters under the ground (a lot of microelements in air, mostly the chlorides of sodium and the ions of calcium, magnesium and iron) are recommended as a prophylactic measure and a treatment of illnesses of upper respiratory track and allergy.

„Bochnia” mine, on the route made available for sightseeing, consists of charming chapels, sculpted in salt rocks, original tools and the mining equipment as well as the unusual saline chambers with preserved traces of exploitation works.
